Make up tips for portrait sessions

Grins 2 Go® professional photographers have some great makeup tips that will make your portraits look even better.

1.        Foundation—for a photo shoot, a perfectly matched foundation (to your skin color) is very important.  Even if you don’t regularly wear foundation, wearing one for your portrait session will make a big difference in the end product

2.       Finishing powder—use a translucent loose powder to decrease shine and keep makeup looking fresh.  Adds a lovely finish to your face

3.       Eye shadow—keep it light and natural.  Tips for those who don’t typically wear shadow:

·         Find a neutral, NOT glittery base and use on the entire lid

·         Use a grey or brown eyeliner above your upper lashes only and blend as need

·         No glittery shadows

4.        Mascara—wear BLACK mascara (even if you don’t do so regularly); it makes your eyes pop in photos

5.       Blush—do not wear anything that is glittery or too brow.  It is not attractive in photos.  If you’re using some shimmer, apply either on your brow or on your cheek bones, but not on both

Makeup should simply enhance your natural beauty, not be the main thing people see on your portraits.  One last natural makeup tip:  get plenty of rest before your portrait session; it will definitely show!

Tips for shooting great candid photos

With Father’s Day coming up, chances are that you’ll be sharing a special day with loved ones…Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Son, special friends, etc.

Get your cameras ready to capture those unique timeless moments.

Here are a few important tips on shooting great candid family photos:
• Always be ready! Great pictures happen at any time. Keep your camera with you at all times

• Don’t try for all posed shots - catch the candid action.

• Watch for expressions that may be coming, like when Dad is opening a present. Natural reactions are something you’ll remember.

• Be aware of the background of your image. When clicking, is a lamp growing out of Dad’s head? Move your position to get a different angle.

• Use your flash, especially for posed shots and groups.

• Turn off the Red-Eye Reduction feature of your flash for candids. Its delay will make you miss the shot.

Photographs make tangible memories. Shoot to your heart’s content! And if you’re looking to get professional portraits done for this Father’s Day (they make a great gift for Dad) give Grins 2 Go® a call at (866)GoGrins.

Green Screen event photography creates party fun

green screengreen screen photographyA customer call came into our offices from a woman celebrating her 40th birthday. She wanted her guests to remember the celebration and take home a momento of this special occasion, which by the way was going to have the Pirates of the Caribbean theme.

Here’s what I recommended to her (and she loved the idea!):
Green screen photography is always fun! And photographs make the perfect momentos for all concerned (especially if they’re in them).
Here’s how green screen event photography works:
• A green screen background (a hideous color green or blue) like the ones they use in the movies or TV, is used as a “stage”

• Guests have fun posing in front of the background and having professionals shoot their images

• Like magic, digital images are superimposed on to the photos and voila! Guests can now be in Paris or underwater or next to Captain Hook

• A customized border or type can stamp the photo, i.e. Kathleen’s 40th Birthday Bash in the Caribbean

• Photographs are printed instantly and given to guests

• Watch the delight on your guests faces!

Caution! This works best when the photos are high quality, the photographers are friendly, lively and know their stuff.
Make green screen photography part of your next celebration and make it a themed event that everyone will remember!
The professionals at Grins 2 Go® can make your party photography fantastic.
